Low income housing has become a big business in Melbourne, with more than a quarter of all new affordable housing projects approved for the next two years.
The numbers are on a huge upswing, with the number of approved affordable housing developments increasing by more than 20 per cent from 2016 to 2017.
This is thanks in part to a new program that lets councils grant full-sized homes to people on low incomes.
With a full size home costing $1.5 million, and with the cost of the property being only $8,000, it is the cheapest way to get affordable housing in Melbourne.
